Platinum Pool Program

The Platinum Pool Program is LSV's flagship accreditation initiative, recognising Victorian aquatic facilities that exemplify the highest standards of aquatic safety, risk management, and operational leadership.

Accredited facilities are required to demonstrate a systematic and structured approach to safely pillars such as risk management, operational excellence, incident reporting and staff training and PD, in order to achieve and maintain this industry leading safety accreditation.  

Program overview

First introduced to set a clear industry benchmark, the program now serves as the sector’s most prestigious safety endorsement, providing an assurance of best practice to councils, operators, patrons, and the broader community.

What is the Platinum Pool program?

  • Helps duty holders and stakeholders identify trusted, safe facilities.
Program eligibility

To be eligible for the Platinum Pool program, facilities must:

  • Be located in Victoria and fall into one of the following categories:
    • Public pool – Public aquatic and recreation facilities open to the general community.
    • School and university pools – School or tertiary-operated aquatic facilities, including those with restricted access.
    • Learn to swim pool – Commercial or community-based swim schools offering structured swimming lessons.
Program criteria

To maintain Platinum Pool status, aquatic facilities must successfully undertake all of the following activities in partnership with LSV each year:

  • Pool Safety Assessment with a gold endorsement.
  • Mystery Guest Visits (x2).
  • Watch Around Water accreditation.
  • SwimSafe accreditation.
  • Risk Treatment Plan - to address audit findings and improve outcomes.
  • Platinum Pool Steering Committee meeting attendance.
Accreditation details
  • Validity: Accreditation is valid for 12-months, requiring annual reassessment.
  • Capacity: The program is limited to 60 facilities across Victoria, encompassing aquatic facilities, school and university pools, and learn to swim centres.

Platinum Pool FAQs
Who runs the program?

LSV administers the Platinum Pool Program, with strategic input from the Platinum Pool Steering Committee, which is a group comprising representatives from Platinum Pools.

How long does accreditation last?

12 months. Reaccreditation is required annually.

Can new facilities join?

Yes, if:

  • There is a vacancy (program capped at 60).
  • They achieve 100% compliance in their Pool Safety Assessment.
  • They commit to all program requirements.

Can schools or universities participate?

Yes, and if access is restricted to students only, some program components (e.g. Mystery Guest Visits) may be waived.
