Water Safety in Schools

Swimming and water safety are essential life skills, and they’re a vital part of the Victorian Curriculum within the Health and Physical Education learning area.

Water Safety in Schools

Swimming and water safety are essential life skills and an important component of the Victorian Curriculum. LSV is proud to partner with the Department of Education in the planning and delivery of the Water Safety in Schools Initiative.

To help educators confidently deliver these skills, LSV delivers a range of programs and resources that are easy to implement and aligned with curriculum requirements and industry best practice. These resources and support empower educators to seamlessly embed water safety education into their teaching activities.

Funding support

Access to funding is essential to enable the safe and successful delivery of school swimming and water safety education. There are currently two funding streams in place to support the delivery of these important activities.

  • Swimming in schools - A Victorian Government initiative that provides funding for schools to fulfil swimming and water safety requirements of Health and Physical Education in the Victorian Curriculum.
  • Sporting schools - An Australian Government initiative designed to support primary and secondary schools increase student participation in sport and community sporting activities.

These funding options can help schools achieve Victorian Curriculum requirements while ensuring all students can develop essential water safety skills.
