Diversity and Inclusion

Our Commitment
We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all. As a volunteer-based organisation, we proudly serve communities from all backgrounds across Victoria.
We recognise the strength that diversity brings to our people, our programs, and our mission to save lives.
LSV’s Diversity and Inclusion strategy ensures everyone, regardless of gender, culture, ability, or identity, can participate fully and feel a sense of belonging. Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do, from beach patrols and training to public education, sport, and leadership.
How We Take Action
We provide training, resources, and practical tools to support inclusive practices across our organisation. Through local programs and strategic partnerships, we work to remove barriers, amplify underrepresented voices, and build stronger, safer communities.

Gender Equity
We are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all.
We believe that everyone, regardless of gender identity or expression, should have equal opportunity to participate, lead, and thrive across all areas of lifesaving.
Through education, policy, and culture, we’re working to break down barriers and build a stronger, more diverse lifesaving community where all people feel seen, valued, and supported.

Multicultural Inclusion
We are committed to engaging multicultural and First Nations communities through respectful partnerships and programs.
Victoria has a varied culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) population. At Life Saving Victoria, we aim to break down barriers to entry by providing first-aid training, swimming lessons, and training and employment pathways to everyone in lifesaving.
All programs are tailored to suit participants with low level English and/or limited swimming ability.

Disability Inclusion
We are committed to creating an inclusive aquatic community where everyone, regardless of ability, feels welcome and supported.
We offer many opportunities for people of all abilities via programs designed to ensure all Victorians are equipped with crucial aquatic knowledge and participants have positive, safe and fun experiences around the water.
Programs include:

LGBTQIA+ Inclusion
We’re committed to safe, inclusive spaces for people of all sexualities and gender identities.
As a Pride in Sport member, LSV partners with LGBTQIA+ experts and allies to educate our members, build inclusive club cultures, and strengthen community connections.
We work closely with Lifesavers with Pride, a national advocate for gender and sexually diverse lifesavers, to promote a welcoming and safe environment across the lifesaving movement.
