Specialist Aquatic Industry Training

Aquatic Technical Operator

This course meets the requirements of the RLSA and Department of Health guidelines as well as State Government regulations. The course is recommended for any person responsible for the testing, treatment or maintenance of water quality or plant operations at any aquatic facility or swimming pool.

About this course

The course focus includes monitoring and maintaining pool water quality in line with industry standards and State based regulations. It also covers risk management, plant/equipment monitoring, risk management and developing facility maintenance programs.

Successful completion of this course will result in the award of the following units:

SISSS00131 Aquatic Technical Operator

  • Test pool water quality
  • Maintain pool water quality
  • Participate in hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control processes
  • Monitor and maintain aquatic facility and plant equipment
  • Coordinate facility maintenance
Aquatic Inflatable Devices

This course equips candidates with the knowledge and skills to safely manage and maintain aquatic inflatable equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and recognised best practices. It is recommended for staff responsible for the management, operation and maintenance of aquatic inflatables. 

About this course

The course focus is the design and implementation of the systems of safe work required to manage aquatic inflatable devices in line with recognised standards. Content includes aquatic inflatable inspections, safe set up/set down, supervision planning and record keeping.

Aquatic Risk Awareness

This course equips candidates with the knowledge and skills to safely manage and respond to aquatic emergencies in line with industry standards and recognised best practices. Originally designed for Ambulance Victoria personnel, it is recommended for those that are exposed to aquatic risk through the course of their work.  

About this course

The course focus includes ensuring those exposed to aquatic risk during their employment/activities have the skills and knowledge to protect themselves and those they have a duty of care for. Theory and practical content includes aquatic environments, planning, personnel transfer, chain of command, rescue techniques, and self-survival.
