Inland Waterway Training Courses

Inland Waterway Lifesaving Certificate

This course is the required qualification for anybody seeking to provide aquatic supervision at an inland waterway location and will quip candidates with the skills and knowledge of aquatic planning, supervision, and emergency response and broader skills required to be able to participate in water safety/lifesaving activities. It is recognised by the Department of Education Adventure Activities Guidelines and the aquatic industry. 

About this course

This course will equip candidates with the skills to supervise structured recreational activities at inland waterway locations. The course focus includes student safety, aquatic awareness, rescue techniques, carries/supports and resuscitation.

Successful completion of this course will result in the award of the following units:

  • SISCAQU020 Perform water rescues
  • PUASAR013 Participate in an aquatic rescue operation

In addition, candidates will also receive:

  • Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Aquatic Risk Awareness

This course equips candidates with the knowledge and skills to safely manage and respond to aquatic emergencies in line with industry standards and recognised best practices. Originally designed for Ambulance Victoria personnel, it is recommended for those that are exposed to aquatic risk through the course of their work.  

About this course

The course focus includes ensuring those exposed to aquatic risk during their employment/activities have the skills and knowledge to protect themselves and those they have a duty of care for. Theory and practical content includes aquatic environments, planning, personnel transfer, chain of command, rescue techniques, and self-survival.

Successful completion of this course will result in the award of the following certificate:

  • Life Saving Victoria - Aquatic Risk Awareness
